What are our burgers made of?

Our classic burgers are made from protein from soya beans whilst our chick’n patties are made protein derived from wheat grains. Our True Veg patties are made from a variety of vegetables, quinoa, and peas.  

Is ‘plant-based’ the same as vegan?

Yes – when we say plant-based, it also means vegan.

How are our patties so healthy?

We’ve health hacked the standard burger patty so that you can relax and enjoy it. We use grains, beans, and veggies instead of unhealthy and fatty animal flesh. We’ve used only a dash of oil, and the oil we have used the king of kings: rapeseed oil. We found that coconut oil was crazy high in saturated fat and palm oil (& their plantations), whilst cheap, is not great on Rainforest sustainability.

What are sat fats?

Put simply, saturated (‘sat’) fats are the ‘bad fats’ found in a lot of processed and prepared foods. Eating a diet high in saturated fats is linked to raised levels of bad cholesterol and an increased risk of heart disease.

Why have we focused on reducing sat fats?

High levels of saturated fats are bad for you.  With 65% of the UK adult population overweight and 29% clinically obese we need to cut down of the levels of saturated fat in our diet.
Everything we sell has three core principles: make it from plants not animals; keep saturated fat to a bare minimum, and have an amazing taste.

What about carbohydrates and calories?

Calories and carbohydrates are what keep you fuelled and full of energy. Don’t get us wrong, too many carbs (and the wrong carbs) and calories are bad but the sat fats and sugars are the real bad guys.

Do you still have a Test Kitchen restaurant?

We had the test kitchen in Reading Berkshire that we ran for 6 months to trial different foods and drink on the good British public. Having refined our ingredients, we then closed the restaurant and delivery kitchen in London to sell our goods into other restaurants chains and supermarkets. We also have plans to partner with a large delivery only restaurant brand in the coming months – watch this space!

Why don’t we like coconut oil?

Coconut oil contains more than 80% saturated fat, more than twice the amount found in lard, and 60% more than is found in beef dripping.  We don’t like saturated fat because it’s super hard to shift off the body, raises levels of bad cholesterol, and increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Are our patties Halal and Kosher friendly?

We don’t have any fancy and expensive certificates to show off but we can claim there are no animal products or derivatives in our food.

Do we test on animals?

Er, no. We think it’s insane to test anything on animals.
